Roses and a Tendril

I've done one more bronze rose on a gray silk choker.  This one has an antique golden brown patina with a bit of green/blue patina, in the crevices and on the back.

I've had a few requests for small rose pendants, so here is one in bronze, on a 20 inch silver chain. Please let me know if you prefer a brass chain or a black cord style necklace.  I can easily change out the necklace, or sell the pendant without any chain.

Silver Roses

In between cooking, cleaning, and lazing around- things are still coming up roses around here!

One more solitaire bronze wild rose pendant

Two solitaire sterling silver wild rose pendants.   I found some gorgeous sterling silver mesh chains to put them on.  They needed something with a big more visual strength to hang on.
This is the largest silver rose of the two.

This one is a bit smaller, with only one leaf.

I like the backs to look interesting as well, so I try to use the leaves as pendant bails when I can.

I've had requests for smaller roses.  I really hate sawing out tiny pieces, so I'm looking for some vintage or new pre-made sterling roses that can be reworked to suit my own wild rose style.  I'll let you know how it works out.

Work In Progress

I haven't shown work in progress in quite awhile.
I've been focusing on some silver leaves and roses for the past few days.  One oak leaf and one rose are for a special request.  I can never decide what is "best" so I always make more than one.

Here are some earrings-to-be.  The sweetheart roses need highlights and burnishing.  The grape leaves need shaping and either ear wires or clip-on findings.

Here are a few other pieces, finished, and waiting to be photographed, in a pile on top of my lightbox.

Studio Update- Ornate vs Simple

Finished a few more Leaf pendants, two different styles.

This is an ornate ivy leaf, hanging from a brass chain with my own handcrafted clasp.  The chain and leaf are oxidized to a rich antique brown with goldtone highlights.

This is a simple modern sprig, also in bronze, hanging from a black cotton cord.

In the studio, I'm working on silver oak leaves, a silver rose pendant, and a few more bronze rose pendants.  I'm doing them for special orders, so let me know if you need something similar.  Photos will be coming as the pieces are completed.

Silver Nugget Jewelry

More silver rock formations made from broom castings. Broom casting is a great way to recycle silver scrap.

I love playing with the castings.  I mix and match pieces intuitively, thinking of them as pieces of a rocky landscape. They are all burnished to a satiny sheen, to bring up the silvery shine without losing their rugged quality.

This is my favorite.  It reminds me of the moon hanging over rocky cliffs, and also has a figurative quality to it.

Some of the best pieces create themselves, through simple intuitive arranging.

Clip-on Glam

Over the years, I've developed a sensitivity to non-gold metals, but only in my pierced ears.  If I want to wear pierced earrings, they need to have gold posts or earwires.  I still love Big Glam earrings, and I certainly can't afford to replace all of my posts and earwires with gold.  So...... I finally started using the clip-on findings that I must have bought more than five years ago.

See my first two pairs of clip-ons, with the clips soldered on for strength.

With clip-ons, I like how I can have a big, tall and wide, shape on my ear, without distorting my earlobe or having the whole earring tilt under.

Thanksgiving Break

Well, first of all, I finished a new pair of big Grape leaf earrings
Big, bold, antiqued brass earrings in a vintage-style grape leaf

I've got two more pairs in the works, that should be done later today.

What else did we do?  Well, there was the meal of course, with family.  There was my son's birthday and a party.

And of course, our pink Christmas tree!  The tree is decorated but we are still working on the under-tree-display.
