I seem to rely on photos more than text to tell my story these days. So here we go again..
First, I have 5 of my copper bracelets for sale right now on Etsy. Next, I am going to make at least 5 for myself. I love seeing them all together on my wrist. Here they are separately, each linked to its sale page.
Zapping over to fiber arts, here is the 2nd trio of embroidered hearts, again not for sale. I have to save something to hand down to my children!

and they are so much fun to make right now. Do you realize that on flickr, my fiberart embroidery pictures get anywhere from 70 to 100+ views, while my metalwork photos average around 15 to 20 views. Hmmmm.... what does that mean?

People are Strange (when you're a stranger) I would think the handforged stuff would be Way more interesting to view than the fooofier stuff but that's just me.
ReplyDeleteI also love the fooofy, though. I made hearts out of cut up serape and hemp string and wooden saint beads. gave 'em to my aunts...the hoity toity ones Loved them!

Kirsten, I am loving these bangles. I didn't even think of wearing them all together: I bet they look fabulous like that.
ReplyDeleteWell the hearts are gorgeous...but so are the hand forged items...maybe colorful just photographs better.:)
ReplyDeleteI love all types of fiber arts (and good for you for holding onto some for the family - haha!) but have to admit - your forged pieces are gorgeous and hold a very dear place in my I-want-that! heart
ReplyDeleteI love those hearts. I put them on my desktop background for Valentine's Day.
ReplyDeleteHey, how do you link to your flickr photos? I haven't figured that out yet. It would be nice to use just flickr or just picasa, and not both.
Hi Knitsteeel!
ReplyDeleteif ya get time:
check out suziblu.blogspot etc
she has something very nice and powerfully pink and beautiful on right now and i thought you might like to share in it....
Hey there! Well as always I Love love love your metalwork, but I also think the hearts are so cute :o)
ReplyDeleteSoftie stuff is just so popular these days. There will be a metal resurgence and you will be at the forefront ;-)
I forgot to comment on your original question. IMO, it's because the hearts are so colorful and happy. They are easily acquired and everyone appreciates hearts. The forged pieces are a true and brilliant artform. Maybe some people cannot appreciate their art or your talent and see it as 'dark'. I don't know. But they also may click past them on the way to the felt hearts because they know they stand a chance of purchasing one of those!! Just a thought.
