New Bamboo Samples and Pendants

Yes, I've still been working on the bamboo samples. Here's what I've come up with. It seems to be the most efficient technique and gives a great visual representation as well.

I was a little worried that this technique would produce a much too ordinary look. The key, I've found, is to not be too perfectionist with it. Let the little quirks and irregularities develop, so it doesn't look machine made. I've got enough bamboo samples now that I'm going to start welding them up into finished pieces. I'm thinking of tables. A reader suggested mirrors. I need suggestions on how to frame and efficiently attach a mirror. I tend to over-complicate those kinds of mechanisms.

I've added some new pendants on Etsy. Two are the leaves you've seen in the past, tried and true favorites, affordable too.

This is a new style, a Cross pendant again in handforged solid bronze. I love it. Take a closer look by clicking on the photo or description.

  1. Hi - I saw your feed comment at With These Hands and just wanted to comment re: it. Full feed allows "sploggers" (blog content thieves) to more easily steal one's content. Partial feed effectively makes the feed useless to them.

  2. Wowzers!

Your bamboo look's like it's got knees....An organic joint.

Ruby's dad told me to leave in my slight mistakes (in the artsy fartsy vein). I am in no way a perfectionist but I would get kinda painstaking about wobbling on the outline. he told me, "oh just leave it."

    it looks Good.

  9. I love the bamboo! I have to tell you, as a biology teacher, the first thing I thought of when I saw then was phalanges! They look like finger bones. In a lovely gentle organic way...not a creepy one.
